Does anyone know of great places to run stairs? Stadiums or other places that are open to the public would be best. I'm looking to mix it up a bit and I think stairs might be the way to go. I'm looking specifically for NYC area, but if you know some in other areas, might as well post them to benefit everyone!

    Thanks!

Seeking bleachers at any public school works well.  I travel frequently, and as a part of my circuit training, I always incorporate running the stairs.  typically 3-6 flights of stair, i will take them at a brisk pace up and down at least 5 times, then take them agian, briskly at two at a time, again 5 times.  Then again 3 at a time, 5 times. this is a great step work out.

It's been at least 40 years since I've lived in Brooklyn.  Since 9/11 I'm sure things have changed a lot security wise.  I remember NYU used to have buildings where we students used the stairs rather than the elevators.  What about parking garages?   My mom was in Hackensack Hospital and the garage stairway there was open and usable.  I live in the Boston area now and tend to take the stairs in the local hospital and the subway parking garage.    Don't know if you live on an elevated subway line.  Some of them had a couple of flights of stairs before the turnstyles (oops, I'm dating myself HA).  How about your apartment?  I know they lock the doors that open to the outside but do you have any friends who can let you in/out of their apartment stairways.  Sometimes it is only the first floor that is locked.  Can you take the elevator to the second floor and continue from there?  Some offices encourage employees to take the stairs.  Can you hit the stairs at lunch time?  Check out public buildings with outside steps.  Of course last but not least are the stepmills (not Stairmasters) or Gauntlets in the gyms that are like endless stairways.  I'm using that to help with my training  for the Robie Creek1/2 marathon. It has a 2000 ft. climb.

I run stairs at my job too.  I work at Robert Wood Hospital and we have a 9 tower building.  So far i've been able to tackle them all x3...

if you are in nyc...what about the stairs up to the bridges??  I assume they've got to be pretty high..no?  Also, right outside nyc...over in fort lee...thre is a great hilly route...and you can run it right back over the bridge into nyc!

    Good luck!
