So, I got new running shoes, Brooks Adrenaline GTS8's, over the thanksgiving weekend. I ran for the first time with them today, and it was a train wreck. Maybe I can chalk it up to me nit running since last Friday, but I'm pretty sure its because my shoes were right out of the box. Anyone have any tricks to help break in shoes so they fit better, or is the key just wearing them a bunch?

I usually wear my new shoes for a full day of non running. Then I will start transitioning the new shoes by wearing them on a few short easy runs before taking them on longer or harder runs.

I haven't had to break in a pair of running shoes since I bought my last pair of all leather Addidas nearly 30 years ago. With any good pair of modern running shoes that fit your feet and running style, you should be good to go taking them right out of the box and going out for a run in them. The fit will not improve as they get older. If you have any concerns that the shoes don't fit right, take them back to the store and demand that they exchange them for a pair that do fit right.

I ended up with a not-so-great pair recently. With the gear-tracking tool, they took 60.33km of distance to break into ;D
