Diilon Ride

Posted in Check this Out! by Free Memberjpantuso

If you’re planning to ride the Dillon loop, here are a few suggestions you might want to remember.
First, expect bad terrain and roads that are in bad condition, lots of thick chunky asphalt especially out of town towards Dillon. Second, once you get out of town and get in the vicinity of the wind mills, expect to have some extremely high side winds and pelting sand for 3 to 4 miles until you get to Dillon road. Most important- do not go alone! Once you start the ride, it does look great, but then you cross hwy 10, and things start to get bad. Beside the fact that cars were whizzing by me at 70+ miles/hours with no shoulder, I was 10+ miles into the Dillon road section; a sheriff pulled beside me and told me it wasn’t a very good idea to be riding my $3000 dollar bike in this area by myself. After he warned me, I looked around and realized that I did feel isolated and very venerable. Obviously I turned around – but that too was a big mistake. The side winds turn into head winds for the next 14 miles. I dealt with 25+ miles of head winds - it completely sucked although I would like to mention Dillon road washes out just north of Palm road where the mud was 4" deep.
Needless to say this ride might have been good if I was with a few bros – on second thought, doubt it.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
